Senior Inspector CHONG CHIN PANG from the Commercial Crime Bureau has been keeping a close eye on computer hacker YIU SHING TIN, but he is frustrated by the lack of evidence to convict him. Police cadet TONG KA MING demonstrates his mastery of target shooting in operations simulation but PANG deducts all his marks due to his lack of judgment. MING has had a misunderstanding with KONG KIN YEE, staff of an express carrier, but puts old grudges behind and delivers the document she has left in his father’s computer software company to the addressee. Seeing a family photo, YEE suspects that TIN is her fraternal half-brother. PANG has hatched a plan to lure TIN to strike again. Just the long arm of justice is about to reach TIN, a murder committed by an armed robber turns PANG’s scheme into futility. PANG’s girlfriend LEUNG YEE YAN has become a vegetable after a car accident. The faulty driver was none other than TIN……

MING agrees to take up PANG’s task. He attends an interview at TIN’s cyber cafe and assumes work there together with YEE, who plans to get close to TIN. YEE helps TIN solve a riddle posed by his grandparents and receives a pay rise. The boss’ favoritism shown to the new staff incurs the displeasure of the manager BAO SHUK YIN. YEE’s creative takeaways earn the boss’ appreciation; is given permission to set up a consignment corner inside the cafe. YIN’s vandalism backfires. MING’s affectionate attitude stirs up love in YEE. The young woman is teased by her mother KONG FUNG LAN. LAN runs a beauty salon with her friend TONG YUET MUI. Her client MRS HO has fallen victim to a swindler and loses a fortune. With the swindler now arrested, MUI accompanies her to the police station for the identification parade. HON YEE LEUNG, a gang kingpin, approaches TIN and seeks his collaboration. TIN remains cautious and won’t let his guard down……

TIN again encounters SIN YEE at a bar. SISTER CHAN, who works as a cleaner at the cyber cafe, is cheated of her life savings. MING senses TIN’s moves but fails to gather evidences of his crimes. TIN’s grandparents YIU HON and CHENG KIU drop by at the cafe and compel YEE to keep them company. YEE also seizes the chance to find out more about TIN’s father. TIN tries to console SIN YEE for the setbacks she encounters at work, but she is unappreciative. TIN takes her to speed the highway. MING is eager to impress TIN but his views are rebutted by TIN, who jokingly asks him to become an art critic instead. Undaunted by TIN’s rebuttal, MING asks PANG to coach him on art criticism, especially on famous paintings. SIN YEE tries to seduce TIN but leaves at the sight of the movie tickets which date back to their first meeting. TIN questions YEE’s motive in approaching the elders and sends her away with money. YEE is humiliated by his gesture……

YEE visits her colleagues at the cyber cafe but a jealous YIN expels her. TOMMY, PANG’s superior, suggests terminating the futile operation, but PANG remains unrelenting. TIN launches a web game to the market but the new product receives a lukewarm response. He is keen to find out the reasons. MING is determined to master the new game in order to get close to TIN. TIN finds out that SIN YEE has not stood him up and sleeps with her. When MING becomes the first player to break into the second phase of the new game, TIN seeks his comments. Mistaking that his girlfriend LAM TSZ KWAN has had a change of heart, MING gives her a hard time. He seeks YEE’s advice and coaxes KWAN back to his side. TIN accepts YEE into his family and invites her home for dinner. MING is asked to attend a working meeting during which TIN proposes a range of innovative elements to revamp the old version of the game. TIN is thrilled by MING’s suggestions……

The culprit of SIN YEE’s abduction is LEUNG. To save her, TIN agrees to collaborate with him on a smuggling deal. SIN YEE tells a sympathetic TIN how her debts have snowballed beyond her. MING pleads with TIN on behalf of YEE to reinstate her post. TIN not only responds to his request, but he also let YEE meet HON and KIU. PANG’s appearance at the cyber cafe catches MING by surprise. PANG gives him a lucky bullet as an encouragement. Tied up with his work, MING has neglected KWAN and confuses her preferences with YEE’s. Feeling lost, he seeks advice from his father TONG KAM FAI. TIN has cancelled his trip to Japan to seal an important deal upon receiving an express document. His strange behavior alerts MING, who informs PANG. PANG assists MING to seek out the content of the document, which leads them to a suspicious cargo container……

TIN exposes MING’s undercover operation and devises a counterplan. He keeps PANG busy decoding a secret password while helping LEUNG to smuggle out the arsenal from the container. Compelled by his eagerness to deliver TIN to justice, PANG demands that MING joins the rank of computer hackers. MING has his fair share of hesitation. Despite LAN’s intricate relationship with MUI, MRS HO urges LAN to act as the matchmaker for MUI and her secret admirer TAI CHUNG, HO’s son. MING is arrested for hacking TIN’s web site. His crime deeply hurts his family. FAI banishes him and throws away his trophies. Bearing his sufferings alone, MING finds solace in YEE’s support and encouragement. YEE and FAI respectively plead for TIN’s leniency on MING’s behalf, but to no avail. A desperate MING agrees to collude with TIN, which fits well with TIN’s scheme. The father and son at last make up with each other……

TIN finds it hard to accept the fact that YEE is his half sister despite the plain evidence MING has presented him. TIN arranges for YAN’s treatment overseas and bears all costs. PANG refuses to accept his favor. TIN proposes to accompany PANG to his boxing practice and concedes the game to his opponent. PANG is upset. TIN confides in YEE and MING the tragic events that befell his family during his childhood. He gives YEE daunting tasks to shoulder but YEE voices no complaints. MING suffers a guilty conscience. MING chances on KWAN’s date with PETER, a doctor, and confronts her. KWAN asks to break up with him. Seeing the heavy blow dealt to MING, YEE consoles him. HON and KIU are enlivened by SIN YEE’s visit. TIN humiliates YEE during a publicity event of the Internet game. In order to please his boss, MING rubs salt into her wounds. YEE’s buddies LEE YAU WAI and CHAN PO WING retaliate by beating MING up……

YEE chances on KIU and HON while getting her bike fixed. She learns from the elders the regrets that TIN had as a child and makes up her mind to do something about it. LAN urges MUI to go on a date with CHUNG and upsets her. YEE sets her goal on winning a cycling tournament but fails to obtain the sports association’s recommendation. To please the boss, MING revamps the old game and races with him through the city highways. WAI and WING seek TIN’s compensation for crashing YEE’s bicycle, but to no avail. YEE receives emails sent by an anonymous hacker who has videotaped her personal life. Alarmed, she reports the incident to the police. Worrying about her safety, MING inquires of PANG about the harassment emails. He gets chastised for letting his emotion take over him. KWAN admits her affair with PETER. Despite MING’s repeated pleadings, she has made up her mind to leave him……

YAN’s sister LEUNG YEE FA and colleagues throw a birthday party for PANG. PANG receives a call from the hospital which informs him that YAN has shown signs of recovery. Disturbed by his intuition that a sexual offender will spring an attack on YEE, MING hurries to her home and beats off the man. He pledges to safeguard her life. PANG suspects that MING has obtained information of the sexual offender through illegal means and gives him a stern warning. However, MING’s investigation has unwittingly led PANG to the prime suspect CHAN KOON, though he fails to break into his computer to obtain evidence of his crime. MING desires to show his affections by kissing YEE on the cheek but is abashed by the sudden appearance of LAN and MUI who have just returned home. Taking MING’s suggestion, PANG succeeds in breaking into KOON’s computer and goes on to press charges against him……

MING, reinforced by PANG’s investigation team, arrives at the designated terminal to tamper with information on a target web site while sending a duplicate of the information to PANG’s terminal. Both fail to notice that TIN has videotaped their every move. MING disregards his own safety and rushes to TIN’s rescue when he is assaulted by some ruffians. TIN shows his gratitude to MING. TIN shares his values of life with MING over a game of chess. KWAN’s mother YAU SUET CHI makes the acquaintance of a man who refers himself as HO TAI CHUNG on the Internet. Believing that she is in love, she tells her sister WAI HA and husband FAI about her plan to purchase shares of CHUNG’s company. But no sooner, she loses contact with CHUNG. FAI accompanies her to his company and suspects that she has been hoaxed. TIN’s subordinate HONG SAI KIT covers for TIN during his recovery at the hospital……

YEE undergoes a successful operation on her torn ligament thanks to the crucial information on drugs reaction that TIN offers. She breaks down and cries when she finds out that she can no longer perform vigorous exercises. LAN tells TIN the story of YEE and her long-lost father, and the driving force behind winning the tournament. TIN lets old grudges die and heartily accepts his half-sister. LAN and MUI reproach CHUNG for dating two women at the same time, but CHUNG denies the accusation. It is later found out that CHUNG’s personal data have been stolen and put to illegal use. PANG uses FA to lure the swindler who has assumed the persona of CHUNG out and delivers him to justice. A dejected CHI is comforted by FAI, who has promised to lend her money. WING and WAI land a job at the cyber cafe through YEE’s recommendation……

MING learns about the long-standing feuds between PANG and TIN. After much consideration, he decides to accept TIN’s suggestion even if it means deceiving PANG. He has faith that the long arm of justice will reach the veteran criminal. KIT is caught for appropriating a computer program but shifts the blame onto his girlfriend WONG CHOR MEI. HA mistakes YEE for a loose woman as she tends to a drunken WING and becomes displeased with MING’s relationship with her. FAI lies to HA in order to console CHI, but his lie is exposed by HA, who thinks that the former lovers have rekindled their love. HA leaves home after falling out with the husband and her sister. At last, YAN wakes up from her deep coma. She has no memory of PANG despite his best efforts to aid her recovery. Deep down, her heart longs for someone else. LAN resolves HA’s misunderstanding of YEE’s relationship with WING……

Saddened by PANG’s self-condemnation over YAN’s death, FA reveals the real cause of her tragedy. PANG has long realized YAN’s change of heart but defends his dealing against TIN for justice’s sake. TIN arranges for YEE to be taken as KIU and HON’s goddaughter. She abides to his plan however unwillingly. MING worries for YEE, since she has always hated lying. SIN YEE is apparently unmoved by the lavish birthday gift that LEUNG has prepared for her and hurries to a date with TIN. Instigated by KIT, WING cheats FAI to acquire a counterfeit of a computer game and gets him in trouble with the law. Tin is shocked to learn that SIN YEE avails herself of his deals. Meanwhile, she ponders on aborting her baby with TIN. MING pleads for TIN’s assistance on FAI’s behalf. Not only TIN has already settled the dispute, he arranges for FAI to become the authorized dealer of the game……

As instructed by TIN, MING has deactivated the security system of the exhibition venue. PANG fails to notice their plan. Meanwhile, TIN has smuggled out an extremely rare and precious diamond necklace with the service rendered by SIN YEE. PANG gets wind that TIN is driving off to pick up SIN YEE from a nearby venue and becomes alerted by his move. But his operation is aborted due to the exhibitor’s failure to notice the theft. LEUNG spots a counterfeit of the necklace that SIN YEE has brought him. She finally realizes that TIN has betrayed her. LAN meets HON and KIU during the adoption ceremony and suffers KIU’s verbal abuses. YEE stands up for her mother and reveals her tie with the family. Her revelation upsets the elders. KIU is hoaxed by a dishonest merchant. LAN, who bears witness to the fraud, upholds justice for her. The reconciliation between her grandparents and mother brings much joy to YEE……

KIU, HON and YEE are appalled by TIN’s evil deeds. PANG investigates into the abduction of YEE et al., but TIN refuses to offer any leads to the case. SIN YEE learns of the abduction and probes into the background of LEUNG’s new buyer. KIU, who receives regular medication, collapses after days of confinement. Over the phone, TIN hints at YEE to solicit MING’s help. Concealing his operation from PANG, MING takes chances with the purchase of the necklace and surrenders it to CHAI. PANG discovers his secretive moves and orders the termination of the deal, but without success. MING redeems the hostages but KIU fails to survive the ordeal. PANG confronts MING and is shocked to learn that TIN has exposed his operation long ago. HON loses his dear wife and faces TIN with mixed emotions. During the funeral procession, YEE spots a dejected TIN who condemns himself for bringing about the elder’s death and feels sorry for him……

CHI comes in the possession of some counterfeit banknotes. MING and others accompany her to give testimony to the police and chance on PANG. MING tells PANG to prepare for events which will shed new light on his character. LEUNG launches a takeover bid for TIN’s rivals in the cyber cafe business and makes KIT the largest shareholder of the new company, which is in effect a money laundering initiative. KIT recruits WAI and WING as his right-hand men. YEE receives WAI and WING’s business cards and fears that they have become KIT’s puppets. She apologizes to MING for WING’s hostility. KWAN falls out with her new boyfriend, who has lost a fortune in a speculative deal. After conducting an investigation into LEUNG’s background, TIN devises a plan to avenge KIU’s death and seeks the service of MING. MING goes along his plan, only to wait for the chance to press charge against him……

YEE questions MING’s love for her and walks away from him. Yet she defends MING in front of TIN. TIN suspects that LEUNG and a Japanese man called AKAME are involved in making counterfeit banknotes. For justice’s sake, MING collaborates with TIN to deal with the two men and reports to PANG the evidences he has gathered. YEE listens to TIN’s advice and makes peace with MING. MING unexpectedly proposes their break-up. Furious, YEE gives MING a slap across the face. Based on MING’s intelligence, PANG and his squad bust LEUNG’s ring and seals its workshop. FA is upset that her colleagues have forgotten her birthday. In fact, PANG has delightful surprise installed for the birthday girl. TIN’s unrelenting efforts move SIN YEE. The lovers make up with each other. TIN arranges for YEE and HON to migrate to Australia. Not wishing to obstruct MUI’s new romance, LAN also plans to leave with YEE……

MING confronts TIN with CHAI’s death, but TIN denies any involvement in his murder. TIN succeeds to seek AKAME’s collaboration with the mastery of the technology to produce high-quality counterfeit banknotes. LEUNG is furious for being left out of the deal. MUI is saddened by LAN’s plan to leave Hong Kong. YEE learns from SIN YEE that TIN seeks to take revenge on LEUNG and tries to persuade him to abandon his scheme with the last words of KIU. A heated argument between the siblings ensues. PANG is instructed to investigate into TIN. PANG follows MING, who acts suspiciously. MING tells him about his mission to stay close to TIN and regains PANG’s trust. The police question WING for his alleged involvement in money laundering. KIT meets WING after the interrogation and learns that YEE has the brass plate for the electroplating process and schemes to abduct her. LEUNG threatens TIN to yield the plate with YEE’s life……

MING prays for YEE’s recovery by her sickbed and regrets breaking up with her. TIN begs SIN YEE to accompany HON to Australia but she returns to him as soon as HON gets on the plane. PANG rips open a carrier post, which encloses YEE’s plate. TIN is willing to offer PANG evidences of his crimes in exchange of the life-saving plate, but PANG rejects his offer. LEUNG finds out that KIT has taken the plate and swears to kill KIT. A critically wounded KIT goes to SIN YEE’s home and falls into TIN’s arms. TIN loses his balance and hits the wall. The collision miraculously restores his eyesight. SIN YEE grieves over KIT’s death, which she believes is caused by TIN. TIN, LEUNG and AKAME again meet to discuss on their joint production of counterfeits, each holding their own secret agenda. As AKAME presses TIN to yield the plate, MING arrives with the real McCoy and tosses it up the air. A three-sided gun battle ensues……

TIN is sentenced to fourteen years imprisonment. MING offers YEE his sincere apologies but an indifferent YEE tells him about her move to Australia with LAN. HA encourages MING to bring YEE back. MING prepares lunch and brews coffee for YEE but she won’t even answer his call. MUI tells CHUNG frankly that she will not go to Malaysia with him. MING hurries to the airport too late. YEE’s flight has already taken off. Four years pass. MING has been promoted to inspector, while PANG has become a superintendent. MING is in charge of a money laundering case and meets a new district attorney called DAVID. To his surprise, YEE has become the attorney’s assistant. SIN YEE indicates her wish to tie the knot with TIN, who gives his consent without any hesitation. MING and YEE visit TIN in the prison for his insight into the money laundering case. They succeed to convict a suspect with the leads that TIN has provided……
