Netflix has been churning out movies for years, with a common critique being that they’re somewhat derivative of other movies. Well Carry-On is here to challenge that narrative by being a holiday action movie that takes place in an airport on Christmas Eve. Wait, that’s Die Hard 2. Well dang it. Carry-On does raise some questions. Like how is Ethan never at his post? How does that Watcher guy manage to get the perfect line of sight from a parking garage? Did the Traveler’s entire plan rely on Ethan checking his phone while at work?

Moana was a pretty big hit when it came out in 2016, but it became even more popular when it hit Disney Plus, becoming the most streamed movie on their platform. Naturally Disney wanted more- this time in the form of a streaming series. Wait, no– a movie! Yeah, a movie. Moana 2 does raise some questions. Like why does this feel like it should have been a TV show? Why are there so many new characters that don’t do anything? What’s up with that bat lady just suddenly not being evil? Despite the lifeless expressions of its main characters, the 2019 “Live-Action” Lion King remake made over 1.6 billion dollars at the box office, which means some kind of follow-up was inevitable. That obligatory follow-up is here, in the form of prequel centered around everyone’s favorite cloud lion: Mufasa. Mufasa: The Lion King does raise some questions. Like why doesn’t Mufasa even try to get back to his parents. Wasn’t it established that Mufasa and Scar were actually brothers? Did we really need origin stories for a stick and a rock? Why do Timon and Pumbaa keep interrupting?

So much so that the studio had no choice but to make a few more - and to work with the open-ended final scene they set themselves up with in the first one. Back to the Future Part II does raise some questions. Like why does everyone’s descendants look exactly like them? Why bring Jennifer along at all if Doc just wanted to knock her out? How does Biff know how to operate a time machine?

The first season of Squid Game was a surprise massive hit for Netflix back when we were all locked inside of our homes. Can a new season, several years later still big as big of a success? Squid Game Season 2 definitely raises some questions. Like wait, what happened last time? Why isn’t Gi-Hun suspicious of 001, the guy who has the same number as the last guy who infiltrated the games? What’s his big plan of raiding the head office all about? Are any of these storylines going to be resolved this season? Is this actually a season?

After decades, Marky Mark is back as a psycho on the big screen, and to show his commitment to the role, he shaved his head bald! Someone call Oscar from the Oscars! Flight Risk definitely raises some questions. Like why does this hitman take them on a joyride if his mission is just to kill them? How did that lady forget she had a phone? Why is she throwing wild accusations at people over the phone and getting them killed? Why aren’t they keeping an eye on the guy they tied up in back?

Ke Huy Quan is going through a well-deserved career revival after his amazing Oscar-winning performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once - and now he’s a leading man in a never-before-seen genre where a mild-mannered guy is actually very good at fighting! Oh wait there have been a bunch of those movies? Oh well we still like Ke! Love Hurts definitely raises some questions. Like why did this former assassin pick a new career that is super public-facing? Why did Rose choose Valentine’s Day to suddenly return? Why are only the innocent characters being brutally taken out? Who is Ariana DeBose’s agent and why do they hate her?

After his Disney Plus series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson is back with his very first standalone movie as Captain America - Captain America: Brave New World! It finally gives the new Cap a chance to shine as he watches Thaddeus Ross kind of be the main character. Captain America: Brave New World definitely raises some questions. Like why is this movie basically a sequel to The Incredible Hulk? Why isn’t The Hulk here? Why doesn’t Bucky help out at all? Why didn’t they have Betty Ross show up and give an emotional impact when it was actually needed?

Mr Beast dominated YouTube, getting all the subscribers and all the views that a person can get. Now he’s set his sight on some other eyeballs: those of Amazon Prime viewers. This guy’s got a lot of eyeballs on him, is what I’m saying. Beast Games definitely raises some questions. Like why was there a need for so many contestants? Is this show just bribing people to leave the show? Did they really have to build a city to play with some red balls?

Apple Studios has been making some quality content (looking at you, Severance) and now they’ve launched themselves into the realm of sci-fi/horror/romance/shooter/action? The Gorge has a lot going on (none of it throat-related.) The Gorge definitely raises some questions. Like why did they make them navigate over 40km if they wanted to keep the location a secret? Why aren’t the two snipers allowed to communicate on cooperative task with such high stakes? Why didn’t those spiders try to climb The Gorge? Why did the CEO show up at The Gorge to oversee unmanned drones?

Disney continues its mission to churn out annual live-action remakes of their classic animated films, which we have to assume someone asked for. The latest is Snow White, the remake of the classic 1937 film. Snow White does raise some questions. Like what’s up with her hair? Why did the Queen even keep her alive? Why are the dwarves magic and why are they so nightmare-enducing?
