It’s the season premiere of The Taste Master as ten talented contestants meet at a renowned hotel in Cape Town to kick off their journey. For the first challenge, in a heartwarming Mother’s Day tribute, contestants bring sentimental items that remind them of their moms and bake cakes inspired by her favourite flavours.

It’s the first elimination challenge and it’s all about the perfect rise as contestants dive into the art of bread making. After a special masterclass by our judge, Zola Nene, the bottom 6 contestants, Danielle, Dustine, Joy, Kershnie, Larce, Meggan and Mpho must take what they have learned and create a true masterpiece to not only impress her but guest judge, Daniel Blignaut, Head Chef at the prestigious The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel. With limited time on the clock, they must deliver a full bread course experience, complete with delicious accompaniments that elevate every bite.

This week on The Taste Master SA, teamwork meets chaos in a high-energy relay challenge! After an inspiring masterclass with the head chef of Test Kitchen Fledgelings, Nathan Clarke, the Top 9: Chevonne, Danielle, Kershnie, Meggan, Lucky, Larce, Mpho, Tinyiko and Xolile must head to the kitchen for their first fine dining challenge. Working in teams of three, contestants must take turns to cook, incorporating mystery ingredients along the way. Will the final dish live up to the standards of guest judge, award-winning chef Nathan Clarke and who will be heading into the upcoming elimination challenge?

It’s an elimination challenge and tensions are at an all time high for Kershnie, Larce, Mpho, Xolile, Chevonne and Lucky as one of them will be cooking for the last time in the Taste Master kitchen. After winning the relay challenge Danielle, Tinyiko and Meggan enjoy a special outing to Allee Bleue to see how high quality fresh herbs are grown. Meanwhile the other contestants get a crash course in handmade fresh pasta from the experts at Scala Pasta / Bar, Group Executive Chef Justin Barker and Head Chef Wesley Roos. The contestants then need to take what they have learned back into the kitchen and prepare their own unique pasta dish from scratch. It’s all about executing the basics to perfection.

The competition heats up at the historic Nederburg Wine Estate as our final eight contestants; Dani, Xolile, Chevonne, Tinyiko, Meggan, Kershnie, Lucky and Larce pay tribute to their father figures. Their mission? Craft a gourmet burger from scratch that captures the essence of the men who shaped them. This week the contestants are given a burger making masterclass by Nederburg Wine Estate’s Head Chef, Linda Trautmann, and then they need to take on the challenge of creating their own homemade gourmet burgers from scratch.

This week on The Taste Master SA it’s double the trouble as the contestants face a double elimination! The bottom 6 contestants, Dani, Xolile, Chevonne, Meggan, Lucky and Larce, step into a world of mystery and fine-dining finesse at The Happy Uncles, South Africa’s first Halaal fine-dining restaurant. Guided by Chef Anwar Abdullatief, they must master the art of desserts that surprise and delight. Who will be safe and which two contestants will be heading home?

This week on The Taste Master SA, our Top 6 contestants Chevonne, Dani, Kershnie, Larce, Lucky and Tinyiko are treated to a delicious masterclass in the art of gourmet cookie baking by Mondvol founder, Andriette Georgiou. They then head to the kitchen to create their own gourmet cookie bit there is a twist, they won’t be presenting just one perfect cookie to the judges, they need to serve up 6! Who will come out tops and who will be heading into the next elimination!

It’s game day on #TheTasteMasterSA and for this elimination challenge, Larce, Dani, Tinyiko, Lucky and Kershnie head to the beautiful Val de Vie Estate where they need to prepare the ultimate game day snack platter. This week Zola is joined by guest judge, chef Dion Vengatass, as well as two rugby legends, Rudy Paige and CJ Stander.

This week on The Tase Master SA: Only Chevonne, Dani, Kershnie, Larce and Lucky remain and this week it’s all about celebrating one of nature’s sweetest ingredients – honey. After being inspired by a masterclass with guest chef Zandi from Hush in My Kitchen, our Taste Master hopefuls must prepare a three-course menu celebrating honey. Judging them this week is our very own Zola Nene who is joined by chef Zandi Manyaku and Clover brand manager, Chipo Kamukwamba. With only four spots left in the competition, who will be cooking for the final time in The Taste Master kitchen?

This week on The Taste Master SA, our top 4, Chevonne, Dani, Kershnie and Lucky, get hooked on seafood as they head to the harbour for a taste of the freshest fish and chips in town. After an inspiring masterclass by the team at Ember and Oak Restaurant they head back to the kitchen to create their own unique seafood take-away experience. It’s sink or swim in the elimination challenge. Who will be safe and who will be heading home?

It’s the semi-finals and the competition fires up at the breathtaking Vuur Restaurant under the watchful eyes of renowned chef Shaun Scrooby and Zola Nene. The final three contestants, Kershnie, Lucky and Chevonne are challenged to elevate a classic South African braai into a gourmet three-course feast. Who will sear their way to the grand finale and who will be left in the smoke?

It’s the ultimate showdown in the grand finale of The Taste Master SA. At the exclusive wineland’s estate, Owloon Manor, our final two contestants Chevonne and Lucky celebrate ‘Festive in Winter’ with a hearty family-style spread, featuring guest judge, TV personality and cookbook author, Jenny Morris. Only one can rise to the top and claim the title. Who will be our next Taste Master?
