Aside from being regarded as one of the finest actors in the history of Indian cinema, Nutan was also crowned Miss India in 1951. Starting as a child actress in 1950, she received recognition for her naturalistic acting. By the late 1950s, she had become a household name. Her accolades include a record five Filmfare Awards for Best Actress and a Padma Shri, awarded by the Indian Government.
