He debuted in 1981 with the controversial hit single Dra te hælvete, which was banned by NRK yet became a chart success, and followed up with albums such as Sound of Danger (1981) and X-Ray (1983), the latter winning him a Spellemann prize. Besides his music career, Holm has been a fixture in Norwegian satire and entertainment—he contributed music and performances to the radio show «Hallo i uken» (NRK P2) for many years, appeared on TV shows like «Løvebakken», and acted in musicals and theatre productions.
