She first gained industry recognition for her writing, including work on Big Mouth (2020–2025), where she later voiced the character Missy. Her breakthrough came with her role as Sydney Adamu in the comedy-drama series The Bear (2022–2026), a performance that earned widespread critical acclaim and major awards, including an Emmy, two Actor Awards, and a Golden Globe. She was also nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award for directing the episode "Napkins". She has since starred in comedy films such as Bottoms (2023), and continued to do voice work for projects including Inside Out 2 (2024). In 2025, she starred in both the horror film Opus and the thriller film After the Hunt. Edebiri has also made her Broadway debut in Proof (2026).
