His most famous and acclaimed performances include his collaboration with Ully Artha in the romantic comedy-drama Kejarlah Daku... Kau Kutangkap (1986) and Keluarga Markum (1986)—a sequel to the successful Kejarlah Daku... Kau Kutangkap. Throughout a career spanning more than five decades, he was nominated twice for the Citra Award at the Indonesian Film Festival: once for Best Supporting Actor for his role as an annoying uncle in the romantic comedy-drama Kejarlah Daku... Kau Kutangkap (1986) and once for Best Actor for portraying Nahdlatul Ulama founder Hasyim Asy'ari in the biographical film Sang Kiai (2013).
