He was sent, by his family, to Europe to study medicine, but instead he studied German language. It was Muhammad Kareem, the director whom he met in Germany, who gave his first role in “Zeinab” the silent film. Mouneer joined the Acting Supporters Society and started acting on stage, in films as well as in the radio. He married actor Mimi Shekeeb who remained his wife till the end of his life though at the beginning they suffered a lot from her family’s refusal.
