She is best known for voicing Gina in Porco Rosso. Kato was born in Harbin, Manchuria, to Japanese parents and graduated from the University of Tokyo. After working as a visiting professor at the Faculty of Tourism, Josai International University, she was a visiting professor at the Department of Symbiotic Sciences, Seisa University.
