She was born in Bærum, Norway, and is the daughter of linguistics professor Arne Torp. Torp made her film debut in The Woman of My Life (2003) and gained recognition for her roles in Svarte penger, hvite løgner (2004), Gymnaslærer Pedersen (2006), and Lønsj (2008), winning multiple Amanda Awards for her performances. She was also named a Shooting Star at the Berlin Film Festival in 2006. Her television career includes starring in the Norwegian political thriller series Occupied (2015–2020), as well as leading roles in Home Ground (2018) and Deliver Me (2024). She has also appeared in films such as The Wave (2015), The Quake (2018), and Charter (2020)1. In her personal life, she married jazz trumpeter Sjur Miljeteig in 2007, and they have two children.
