She is best known for her role as Dr. Lisa Cuddy on the medical drama series House (2004 - 2011). Edelstein also had recurring or starring roles in the series Relativity (1996 - 1997), The West Wing (1999 - 2000), Ally McBeal (2000 - 2001), Felicity (2001 - 2002), American Dad! (2007 - 2011), The Legend of Korra (2013 - 2014), Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (2014 - 2018), The Good Doctor (2018 - 2019), The Kominsky Method (2018 - 2021), and 9-1-1: Lone Star (2021 - 2023). Throughout most of her career, Edelstein has rarely ventured outside of television, making small appearances in films including The Doors (1991), As Good as It Gets (1997), Keeping the Faith (2000), What Women Want (2000), and Daddy Day Care (2003). More recently she starred in Dr. Bird's Advice for Sad Poets (2021) and The Everything Pot (2024).
