The Guardian (2025)
The plot follows the story of Basilio, an immigrant recently deported from the United States who seeks to rebuild his life as a caretaker of a deserted beach in Baja California, an idyllic place to escape his harsh and troubled past. Despite not receiving a salary or any monetary reward, he clings steadfastly to this job, which has given him a new purpose. However, everything changes when he decides to report the illegal fishing of totoaba, an act that provokes the fury of the town and transforms their seemingly peaceful, idyllic place into a living hell. Between the immensity of this beautiful landscape and the hostility of the community, Basilio must decide between staying to face the risks and keep his paradise intact, or returning to his former home.
