The official video is 9 minutes long on various DVD releases but is currently not on Jackson's Official YouTube channel. The channel has the shorter 7m version which is on the VHS version of Video Greatest Hits - HIStory and the Number Ones DVD. There also exists a 14m version, which was leaked, as well as a rumored 20m version. The official 9m version received 1 nomination at the 1988 MTV VMAs. The video, alongside "Bad", was nominated for Best Choreography, but lost to his sister Janet's video "The Pleasure Principle". The song accompanying the video is Jackson's third out of five U.S. Hot 100 number 1 hits from his album Bad.
